Cradle
When you open your old journal,
the fear you carried will jump off the page.
You will want to cradle the one
who wrote so many tangled lines,
and whisper:
I know it is more difficult than you would ever admit,
but you should forgive yourself.
You had the courage to look inside,
the kindness to begin letting go.
Your dilligence is sincere,
and I could not have made it here without you.
One day, you will stop fighting the world.
In the meantime,
set down your journal,
and find a tree to sit with.
Take refuge in its steady indifference to you.
